Dines Bjørner

Biography: Dines Bjørner was born on 4 October 1937. He received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962 and the Dr.Techn. degree in 2001. From 1962 to 1975, he worked with IBM in San Jose (USA), Geneva (Switzerland), Menlo Park (USA), and Vienna (Austria). He was a Professor at the Technical University of Denmark from 1976 to 2007, and is now Professor Emeritus. Between 1992 and 1997, he served as UN Director at the United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology. He has also been Guest Professor at the Universities of Kiel (1980), Singapore (2004–2005), JAIST, Japan (2006), and Nancy (2007).

Professor Bjørner is co-creator of the Vienna Development Method (VDM) and RAISE, and has made pioneering contributions to the field of formal methods and programming methodology. He has authored more than 120 scientific papers and seven books, three of which have been translated into Chinese.
